Outline
Henry DeTamble is a Chicago librarian. However, he is not a normal librarian. He suffers from a genetic disorder that causes him to sporadically time travel when forced. Henry wants to settle down into a normal family life with his loving wife Clare DeTamble, but his disorder is making this very difficult. Clare wants the same too, to build a stable life with Henry, but his disorder forces him back in time at the most unexpected moments, which is proving to be a strain on the relationship.
Actors
The leading role of Henry DeTamble is played by Eric Bana. Bana plays the character very well, and really portrays the persona of Henry to the viewer. We get a good idea of what this librarian is like, and how his disorder is affecting his life with his true love, and his desperate battle to settle down. Henry’s wife, Clare, is played by Rachel McAdams. Again, McAdams really portrays her character brilliantly, and the viewer definitely gets an idea of how stressful her situation is, and how she wants to be with Henry and settle down with him more than anything. All of the actors in The Time Traveler’s Wife are brilliant, and all perform really well, however, the two mentioned above are certainly the best.
Genre
The Time Traveler’s Wife can be put into several different genres. To start with, there is a lot of romance in this movie, so it can certainly be out into this category. The viewer really sees the romance between Clare and Henry, and there are also other couples in the movie too. The whole storyline is basically a love story with a twist. There is also a bit of a magical element to the librarian’s disorder that forces him back in time, entirely fictional, of course, but very interesting. Then there is an element of drama. The drama of Henry and Clare’s relationship, the drama of his disorder.
Length
At 108 minutes the length of The Time Traveler’s Wife is perfect; Although, I wouldn’t have complained if it was a little longer, because it is such a good movie. The full story has been told, and you don’t leave feeling like there is something that was missing from the story itself. It’s a very easy to follow storyline too.
Persoanl Opinion
I absolutely loved watching The Time Traveler’s Wife, and would certainly pay to watch it again. There is a great mixture of drama, mystery, and of course, romance. The script has been really well written, and is very interesting to watch. The two leading actors that were cast are perfect for their parts of Clare and Henry, and they are both really talented. The whole story is really interesting as nothing like it has been done before; it’s a new story, and a very interesting one at that.
